Who We Are
Kelly Halliday
Growing up, Kelly was always interested in learning about the psychology behind people’s behaviours. She knew she wanted to be an advocate for mental health in some capacity. At the University of Guelph, she took her first psychology course and became intent on learning about the mind and its connection to thoughts, feelings and actions. Kelly went on to obtain her Bachelor of Arts with a major in psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Kelly enjoys working with children, youth, and adults and has a Master's in Early Childhood Education.
Kelly believes the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important aspects of counselling. She takes the time to listen, be in the moment with the client, and honor their experience. With a strong therapeutic relationship in place, clients are able to delve deeper into the issues they are facing, and feel encouraged and supported to make positive changes in their lives. Kelly takes an integrative approach to counselling. Each client is unique and has their own strengths and difficulties. Pulling from a variety of counselling methods, allows for a plan of intervention to be tailored to suit each individual. She often practices cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Kelly is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and is a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
Kelly has experienced the loss of several loved ones and understands how complex loss and grief can be. Whether the client is working through loss, stress, anxiety, depression, or a multitude of other issues, Kelly approaches counselling with a collaborative, empathetic, non-judgmental stance. She believes every single client deserves and has the ability to live a joyful life.
“Big changes are nothing more then a series of little changes made over time.”
